Ground
The ground, or even its soil or its substrate, is appointed as the primal landscape material. By being the pedestal on which trees and cities are rooted, both literally and figuratively, it constitutes for the landscape designer and urban planner the first key to understanding the fundamental relationship between man and nature. It is the breeding ground for any landscape and urban planning project aiming to create a harmonious relationship between the city and its natural environment.
