Sugarie site in Ath
PROJECT IN SUMMARY
Fragmented and subjected to intense automobile pressure, the former site of the sugar factories required a decisive urban planning and landscaping gesture. Reclaiming the Dendre quays, creating a new living environment along the water for locals and new residents, "stitching up" the landscape ... so many challenges to take up to revive the place and revitalize an entire neighborhood.
The landscape aspect is approached from the perspective of enhancing the banks of the canal, creating family gardens and orchards in the heart of the courtyards and gardens facing the canal. These landscapes are linked by the layout of a "water path".
From an urban point of view, the circulation has been redesigned to give a preponderant place to the soft modes which cross the newly created stratified landscapes. The spaces are structured by harmonious integration of existing elements and new buildings.
