Place des Cordeliers

PROJECT DESCRIPTION 

Place des Cordeliers is a place steeped in history.  The first hot-air balloon took off there in 1783. The buildings adjacent to the square are a reminder of the rich past of the town, once famous for its paper mills and leather industry. It is also the center of a very diverse urban fabric, which links the upper and lower town. 

Spaces are cleared to offer new perspectives on the buildings, promote existing commercial activities and develop the liveliness of the square. The new developments reflect a modern urbanity while promoting history and heritage.

A dry fountain, lighting, and furniture with soft, round shapes all contribute to creating a friendly place, ideal to relaxation and to cultural and festive activities.
