The little sisters of the Atomium

THE PROJECT IN SUMMARY

Originally, artist Cécile Pitois wanted to create a work of art made up of spheres placed on a base, the whole representing a cloud overhanging the neighborhood. The spheres are a representation of the Atomium and the Petanque balls, a popular game in Brussels.

It is therefore a question of integrating a piece of art into a commercial area and finding technical solutions adapting to the harshness of the urban space while preserving the dreamlike softness desired of the artist. Beyond a traditional landscape or urban integration, it is also necessary to bring together the artist's vision and the sensitivity and the lifestyle and habits of the inhabitants of the neighborhood.

To make this project a reality, we designed technical solutions for implementation, choosing the appropriate materials with the artist; collaborated with many craftsmen and technicians; and interacted with the inhabitants of the neighborhood to achieve a playful artwork that fits harmoniously in its environment.
